Go for the 850R.  Love the restrained choice of the 16" BBS wheels.

I’d prefer it to have OEM wheels. Like the Propus, which are two piece BBS wheels that look really similar to what is shown. But the P80 platform kinda sucks on 17's as it needs plenty  of sidewall to avoid a crashy ride.

I think the US markets got only 850 Rs tamed down with an automatic.

I really like that style BBS, and they make great wheels, so I’d forgive it on this car. Though the 850R wheel is also quite nice. Regardless, you’re right, 17 is probably too much. I put a set of 16" Zeus wheels on my old 850 GLT and the difference is notice able.

I have a set of Propus-Cs (the wider 7.5" version) sitting in my g arage. I got them for $200. They have a little bit of rash and one has a slight crack on the back lip, but above the bead seat so it should be fixable. I’d eventually like to fix them up and put them on my 240, which is a car that admittedly needs 17's even less than a P80, but it would look soooo good that I don’t care.

I think the Propus wheels are the best looking Volvo wheel ever made (with the Tritons being second, the Volans third and Bors 4th). I had them on my C30. I actually have two more I’d be willing to let go for cheap. Or possibly free, I really just want them out of the way.

There is a guy named Ben Kahplenke who makes suspension parts for the 240. He bought a set of wheels from e once and showed up in a red 245 lowered with Propus wheels and it was awesome. If you aren’t familiar, here is his site:

My V70 was lowered and on H&R springs and 17's it was way too crashy. Switching to Comets and more sidewall fixed it.
